Each gear pump has its pros and cons, so specific pumps are best suited for specific conditions. Knowing the five gear pumps, their functions, and their uses will help you decide what to install and what to do. Make sure the pump can handle the particles and viscosity of the liquid. Non-ideal deposits increase the cost and cost of repairs.

Screw Type gear pump:

As the name suggests, instead of the usual gears we usually see, magnetic pumps add a twist to the flow design. Depending on the length of the screw, the inlet is divided into two parts and pumped into the screw. Then it flows through the central door.

Uses:

  •   Fuel injection
  • Lubricants
  • Hydraulics

Lobe type gear pump:

Rotary lobe pumps use a design similar to an external gear, but use a circular piston instead of gear teeth. The main difference between piston pumps and external pumps is that the pistons are not in direct contact with each other.

Uses:

  •  Polymers
  • Paper coating
  • Soaps
  • Rubber and adhesives

GE rotor type gear pump:

Geological gear is a kind of industrial peristaltic pump using two alternating rotors. Like internal gears, rotary pumps have a small rotor with external teeth and a large rotor with internal teeth. A smaller rotor rotates and most of the parts move together. As the rotor shortens, the material flowing through the system puts pressure on the rotor, increasing speed and material flow.

Uses:

  • Light fuel oils
  • Lube oil
  • Hydraulic fluid

Internal Geartype gear pump:

Like external pumps, internal gear pumps have two gears, but the larger gear replaces the smaller internal gear. There are crescent-shaped joints between the wheel chains that fill the space created by the irregular gears. This creates a vacuum that traps the liquid between the gears, eventually pushing the liquid from the inlet to the outlet.

Uses:

  • Asphalt and tar
  • Resins and polymers
  • Alcohols and solvents

External geartype gear pump:

With an external gear, you will usually see two gears mounted side-by-side on the pump housing. In this system, only one gear meshes and the other gear meshes. This causes the steering box to rotate when power is applied.

Uses:

  • Water
  • Light oils
  • Chemical additives
